Loch Ness Invermoriston Area Information
Invermoriston lies in the heart of the Great Glen in the Highlands of Scotland, on the shores of Loch Ness 25 miles south of Inverness and 40 miles north of Fort William, where the river Moriston rushes over the falls of Invermoriston to the Loch. The picture shows the view from Meall Fuar-mhonaidh, at 699m the highest peak on the shores of Loch Ness, looking south down the Great Glen towards Fort William. The walk to the summit of this "Graham" starts from Bunloit near Drumnadrochit about 12 miles from Lann Dearg Studios. Within easy reach of Invermoriston there are opportunities for access to most kinds of outdoor activity, including walking, climbing, water sports, fishing, cycling and skiing in season. The Great Glen Way long distance walk and the Great Glen Cycle Route pass through Invermoriston on their way from Fort William to Inverness. Plus many more formal tourist attractions such as the official Loch Ness Monster Exhibition at Drumnadrochit and Urquhart Castle are both within a 20 minute drive or can be reached daily by public transport.. The west coast and the Isle of Skye, with its unique atmosphere, are not far away through some of the best scenery you will ever experience. Or travel the famous "Road to the Isles" from Fort William through Glenfinann to Mallaig by road or steam train.
